History of the association

The association DHd - "Digital Humanities in German-speaking countries" - was founded on July 17, 2012 at a founding conference at the University of Hamburg under the provisional name "Digital Humanities Deutschland (DHD)".

The founding chairs were Prof. Dr. Jan Christoph Meister (University of Hamburg, 1st Chair) and Prof. Dr. Claudine Moulin (University of Trier, 2nd Chair).

The official registration of the association under the name "Digital Humanities im deutschsprachigen Raum e.V., Von-Melle-Park 6, 20146 Hamburg" took place on August 20, 2013 at the Hamburg District Court, register sheet VR 21873.

The term of office of two of the elected members of the Board of Directors ended after two years in 2015 in accordance with Article 9.5 of our Articles of Association; that of the remaining five members of the Board of Directors ended after four years in 2017 in accordance with Article 9.2.
