Der Verband »Digital Humanities im deutschsprachigen Raum e.V.« (http://www.dig-hum.de) schreibt fünf Reisestipendien zu je 500 € aus, die nicht an
The association „Digital Humanities in the German-speaking Area e.V.“ (http://www.dig-hum.de) is offering five travel grants of €500 each for participating in conferences other than the DHd Annual Conference.
Applications are possible even without one’s own contribution at the conference. The travel grants are awarded to a maximum of €500 each. Eligible costs include 2nd class train travel, public transport trips, DHd membership fees, conference fees, accommodation up to max. €80/night, and costs for poster printing. Payment is made after the conference upon submission of receipts.
Eligible applicants are students of a humanities or cultural studies field, especially from the area of Digital Humanities, i.e., Bachelor and Master students as well as graduates up to two years after their Master’s degree, or doctoral candidates. These Early-Career Travel Grants are aimed at supporting students and graduates with interests and research projects in the field of Digital Humanities and their integration into the DHd community.
The grantees commit to reporting on their experiences during the conference or within four weeks after its end. Suitable formats include blog posts, day- or section-wise management of the conference Twitter/Mastodon accounts, photo or other multimedia documentations, and brief conference reports via other media channels. Further creative presentation and publication forms are explicitly welcomed and can be considered after consultation with the scholarship coordinator. The submission of the conference accompanying contributions must be done no later than four weeks after the conference, and the submission of accounting and receipts no later than eight weeks after the conference.
The DHd Association supports sustainability. We encourage making sustainable decisions in travel planning. It is expected that grantees – if the timing of the grant award allows – take advantage of Early-Bird conference rates. Membership in the DHd Association is not required for the application and disbursement of the grant. However, we would like to point out that members of the DHd Association benefit from a significant reduction in participation fees at conferences of the Digital Humanities professional associations DHd, EADH, and ADHO.
The selection of the grantees will be made collectively by representatives of the DHd Board based on the applications. Preference is given to applicants who have not yet received a grant for one of the previous DHd conferences. Former grantees are ranked according to the number of grants already received and can only be considered if there are enough grants available. In case of equal suitability according to the criteria mentioned above, a draw will decide. Legal recourse is excluded.
Applications can be submitted until 15.12.2024. Please fill out the application form in German or English and send a short tabular CV (max. 1 page). If you have your own conference contribution, please also include the submission text and the reviews of the accepted contribution with your application. Please also indicate if you have already received a DHd travel grant. You may be considered again, but preference is given to applicants who have not yet received a DHd grant.
Please send applications by email to stipendien@dig-hum.de. For questions about the Early-Career Travel Grants, please also contact stipendien@dig-hum.de.
The personal data of the applicants will be processed based on the privacy policy for the purpose of carrying out the selection process under the mentioned conditions. If you have any questions about data protection in connection with the grants, please also contact stipendien@dig-hum.de. stipendien@dig-hum.de.
The grantees will likely be notified in January.
