virtual summer school: Deep Learning for Language Analysis

The University of Cologne organizes a Summer School on „Deep Learning for Language Analysis“, which will take place August 30th – September 3rd, 2021, as an online event.

The summer school addresses MA students and doctoral candidates from Linguistics and Digital Humanities, as well as other fields that are involved with the application of machine learning techniques.
Participants can choose between two alternative tracks:

  • Deep Learning with Audio & Speech Data, given by Paul Wallbott (Fraunhofer IAIS)
  • Text Analysis with Deep Learning, given by Nils Reiter (UoC)

Subsequently, a hands-on course on natural language processing will be provided by the NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute. Here you can earn an additional certificate.

During the summer school, there will also be a panel session on practical applications of machine learning, with short presentations followed by a panel discussion. The panelists will be announced soon. This event will be accessible also without registration to the summer school. Please send a note to ml-school@uni-koeln.de with the subject „Panel“, we will then send you an invitation for the panel.
